A Photograph's Life
Not just an image.
A life to follow.
What happens between taking a photograph and finding it in a museum?
A proposed journey for visitors aged 10–14, following one photograph through capture, development, publication and preservation. Physical encounters and a touchscreen experience make those hidden decisions part of the visit.

01 / The question
An archive needs an invitation.
The site research pointed to a gap between seeing many photographs and understanding what makes one photograph matter.

Many images. No clear beginning.
The proposal starts with one photograph and a visible route through its story.
Description without a decision.
An editorial choice gives visitors a reason to look closer and compare interpretations.
The archive's work stays hidden.
Negatives, contact sheets and a printed ticket bring the life of the image into the room.
Looking becomes participating.
The design intention02 / The visit
One photograph. Five chapters.
A primer sets the direction. Five encounters then move between looking, discovering, choosing and keeping. Each touchpoint has a distinct job within the same story.

What made this moment worth keeping?
Meet one photograph at a large scale and look at the decision behind the frame.
One image becomes the entry point, rather than asking visitors to navigate an entire archive at once.

03 / The Choice
Your eye. Your editorial decision.
The digital encounter asks a specific question: which frame would you put on the cover? The sequence turns an initial preference into a comparison, then a personal artifact.
A person and a moment in history introduce the collection before the first decision.
Original prototype screens04 / The companion
Tempo, the archive spirit.
A small, expressive guide connects the room, screen and take-away. Photographic textures, editorial type and brief prompts keep the language close to the archive.
A trace of the encounter
The visit leaves
with you.
The archive ticket gives the final stop a physical outcome. It carries an image, its context and a small reminder of the visitor's place in the story.
A little piece of the archive.05 / Beyond one visit
A shared guide. Other ways of seeing.
The extension studies test the same idea against different collections: geometric play for Luigi Veronesi and a questioning gaze for Joan Fontcuberta.
Compose through geometry.
A hands-on encounter with shape, color and composition.
Look again. Question the image.
An invitation to inspect what photography appears to prove.
The continuity concept
One Tempo.
More than one visit.
The proposed passport collects traces across encounters, giving the visual system a role beyond a single exhibition.
